IX Resin Plants

Introduced at the beginning of the last century, the ion exchange resin plants are still essential for certain water treatments. Properly used, the ion exchange units can reach a standard, not possible to obtain with other systems.
The configurations of these units are sometimes rather difficult and therefore must be designed and built with effective technology in order to guarantee the required results.
We design and build ion exchange plants for primary, process and discharge waters.



The plants manufactured with these technologies are utilized for the following applications:

  • Softening.
  • Demineralization / Deionization.
  • Production of Ultrapure water.
  • Decanting.
  • Decarbonisation.
  • Selective elimination of undesired material.
  • Selective elimination of heavy metals.
  • Recycling of waste water.  Special applications.


Water softeners are used to treat what is commonly called “hard” water. Water softening uses an ion exchange resin to remove calcium and magnesium from hard water.


Deionization Systems

Deionization, as the name explains is a term normally used for reduction of charged ions to very low levels. Deionization is also alternatively called as Demineralization. The deionization is normally a two stage process. In first stage cations & in second stage anions are removed respectively.


Mixed Bed Systems

Mixed-bed Units are normally used to ‘polish’ the water to higher levels of purity after it has been initially treated by either a two-bed deionizer or a reverse osmosis unit. In mixed-bed deionizers the Strong Acid Cation and Strong Base Anion resins are closely mixed and contained in a single pressure vessel.
